### What we like

Exposes cloud object storage (S3 & S3 compatible, GCS, Azure Storage) as if it were a POSIX compatible filesystem with standard commands like copy, list, remove, etc. Appears as a new mounted filesystem plus a CLI for direct interaction (which offers better performance than a FUSE mount). Supports metadata like permissions, links, users, etc.

### Tradeoffs

No Arm binaries. Be aware that whilst CunoFS works around the object storage write-once limitation, it may not be efficient.

## Is CunoFS a fit?

Based on [Console’s review published on 2023-10-12](<https://console.dev/tools/cunofs#review_651c6a50101758fc0aa67be986206c9f2128a41d1b8dd7006430b1e0e13396f9>).

Summary updated: 2026-10-16

### Who it’s for

Developers using cloud object storage should consider CunoFS

### Why consider it

CunoFS allows exposure of cloud object storage as a POSIX compatible filesystem

### Keep in mind

CunoFS may not be efficient due to object storage write-once limitation
