Documented compatibility; coverage may be incomplete. Written in describes implementation, not user-project language support.

Go compiler targets LLVM and provides C ABI interoperability with C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Objective-C and Swift.

### What we like

Source remains compatible with Go, but uses the C Application Binary Interface (ABI) to allow interfacing with other languages (JS, Python, C/C++). FFI performance without FFI. Supports the latest Go 1.27 syntax and cgo, but without cgo. Goroutines map to OS threads. Native, Wasm, and embedded targets.

### Tradeoffs

Goroutines map to OS threads, which are heavier than lightweight goroutines. Garbage collection is more conservative and different per target, so it needs benchmarking vs pure Go.

## Is llgo a fit?

Based on [Console’s review published on 2026-09-03](<https://console.dev/tools/llgo#review_3206e70c7d056eb4fd7496e1634b99e180eae812262aeeaf1e2e832fba93fee2>).

Summary updated: 2026-10-16

### Who it’s for

Developers who need to interface with other languages

### Why consider it

Allows FFI performance without FFI

### Keep in mind

Goroutines are heavier due to mapping to OS threads
