### What we like

Describe task steps in YAML and it executes them. Designed to be very simple, but supports advanced features like including other task files, dependencies, variables, platform specific commands. Doesn’t re-run commands if the output hasn’t changed. Easy to install in CI. Single (Go) binary. Open source.

### Tradeoffs

Reports of high CPU usage if watching large numbers of files e.g. a node\_modules directory. This is an optional mode used to watch and rerun tasks if the file changes.

### Who it’s for

Developers using CI and YAML should consider this tool for task automation

### Why consider it

This tool allows users to describe task steps in YAML and execute them

### Keep in mind

It may have high CPU usage when watching large numbers of files

## In these collections

[A more useful terminal](<https://console.dev/tools/collections/a-more-useful-terminal>): Turn repeated commands into named tasks. The review covers YAML configuration, dependencies, and skipped unchanged work; watch mode could use substantial CPU on large trees.
