What we like

Easy to get started with a production-ready k8s cluster, locally (can run in a Multipass VM directly on your system) or in the cloud. Configures core components out of the box. One command to have other nodes join the cluster to provide HA. Command to quickly install other components e.g. dashboard.

Tradeoffs

Ships as a single command, but it’s a set of Python scripts behind the scenes. Would be nicer as a single binary, but probably not possible because it’s orchestrating vanilla k8s.

Is Microk8s a fit?

Who it’s for

Why consider it

Microk8s allows developers to easily get started with a production-ready k8s cluster

Keep in mind

Microk8s is implemented as a set of Python scripts behind the scenes, rather than a single binary
